Our work

Every room, before and after.

Every room we photograph, on every job, shown the way it happened: the same room, the same visit, before on the left and after on the right. Where a room was only shot once it is marked Job done. Nothing staged, nothing swapped, nothing shot in a different house.

23 before-and-after pairs and 27 finished rooms, from 4 jobs.

One-bedroom apartment, end of tenancy

Twenty-nine photographs, one visit. Kitchen, bathroom, floors and the refrigerator, taken as we went rather than at the end.

Before and after · 10

A kitchen counter with a full trash bag and a soiled stovetop, and the same kitchen cleared and wiped down BeforeAfter

Move-out

The kitchen, cleared

Counters cleared, the trash out, the range degreased, cabinet fronts wiped, floor done last so nothing lands on it twice.

A stovetop buried under packaging and debris with the oven standing open, and the same range clean and closed BeforeAfter

Move-out

Range and oven

Everything that was left on the cooktop went out. Burner caps and grates came off, the oven door glass was done on both sides.

A refrigerator interior with dried spills across the glass shelves, and the same interior washed clean BeforeAfter

Deep clean

Refrigerator, shelf by shelf

Shelves and drawers came out and were washed in the sink, not wiped in place. Door seals last, with a dry cloth.

Close view of stained refrigerator shelves and drawer, and the same shelves clean BeforeAfter

Deep clean

The same refrigerator, closer

The second angle on the same unit. The stain under the crisper is the one that gets skipped, and it is the one that smells a week later.

A shower pan scattered with grit and debris around the drain, and the same pan clean and white BeforeAfter

Move-out

Shower pan and drain

Grit out of the pan first, then the drain, then the pan itself. Wetting it before clearing it turns the grit into paste.

A tiled shower wall and stained base, and the same wall and base clean BeforeAfter

Move-out

Shower wall and fittings

Hard-water film off the tile and the grab bar. Grout lines get treated and left to work, not scrubbed dry.

A shower stall with debris across the base and on the floor outside it, and the same stall and floor clean BeforeAfter

Move-out

Shower, from the door

Same stall, third angle. What comes out of a shower pan lands on the floor outside it, so that strip gets done after the stall and not before.

A bathroom vanity with items left on the counter and litter on the floor, and the same vanity cleared and wiped down BeforeAfter

Move-out

Vanity and basin

Everything off the counter and the litter off the floor first, then the basin, the tap and the overflow, then the seam where the counter meets the wall.

A dark stone counter with boxes stacked on it, and the same counter cleared with the boxes stored on the shelf above BeforeAfter

Move-out

Counter and shelving

What was stacked on the counter went up onto the shelf. Then the stone was wiped down and dried by hand, so it does not haze as it dries on its own.

A dull plank floor running down a hallway, and the same floor clean and catching the light BeforeAfter

Move-out

Plank floor, hallway through

Dry residue lifted before anything wet touched it, then a damp pass with the grain and no standing water at the seams.

Finished rooms · 9

A finished kitchen with a clean range, microwave and dark tile backsplash

Job done

Kitchen, finished

Cabinet fronts, backsplash, the top edge of the range hood.

A clean stainless steel refrigerator exterior

Job done

Refrigerator, outside

Stainless done with the grain and buffed dry. Handles get their own pass.

An empty living area with a clean plank floor and a bright window

Job done

Living area

Baseboards and the floor edge, which is where dust settles once the room is empty.

Sunlight falling across a clean plank floor by a window

Job done

By the window

Sun across a floor is an honest test. Anything left behind shows up in that stripe.

An empty bedroom with a clean floor, window and radiator cover

Job done

Bedroom

Sill, radiator cover and the floor under it.

An empty closet with a clean floor, shelf and hanging rail

Job done

Closet

Rail, shelf and the floor inside. Closets are where a move-out clean gets skipped.

A bathroom mirror and counter, cleaned and streak-free

Job done

Mirror and counter

The same vanity from the other side. Glass done last so nothing gets splashed back onto it.

A cleaned toilet with the floor around and behind it

Job done

Toilet and the floor behind it

Bowl, seat hinges, the base, and the strip of floor behind the pan that a mop cannot reach. That strip is done by hand.

A second toilet, cleaned, with the floor around it

Job done

Second toilet

Including the hinges and the underside of the seat.

Studio, floor-to-ceiling glass

A unit where the windows do the talking, so the floor and the glass line had to be right before anything else counted.

Before and after · 3

A kitchen with debris across the floor beside the refrigerator, and the same kitchen clear and clean BeforeAfter

Move-out

Kitchen, floor to peninsula

What was on the floor came out first. Then appliance fronts, then the peninsula, then the floor again.

A stovetop covered in leftover packaging with the oven open, and the same kitchen with the cooktop clear BeforeAfter

Move-out

The range in that kitchen

The cooktop in the photo above, close up before and clear after. Left-behind packaging off, grates up, spill line under the burners done.

A bathroom with cloths and clutter on the floor beside the tub, and the same bathroom clear and wiped down BeforeAfter

Move-out

Bathroom, tub to baseboard

Tub, dark tile, vanity, mirror, and the floor last. Dark tile shows every drip, so it gets dried rather than left.

Finished rooms · 6

An empty living area with floor-to-ceiling windows and a clean plank floor

Job done

Living area, glass line

The track at the base of the glass is done by hand. A vacuum does not get the corner of it.

The other end of the same living area, windows and clean floor

Job done

The same room, other end

Sills, the radiator cover and the floor underneath it.

A wide view of a cleaned studio with counter, plank floor and window wall

Job done

Whole room

Counter, floor and glass in one frame, which is the frame a landlord takes.

A clean window wall and sill with daylight coming through

Job done

Window wall

Sill and frame. The glass itself is the window cleaner's job and we say so rather than pretend.

An empty bedroom with clean floor, closet doors and a window

Job done

Bedroom

Closet doors, the track they run on, and the floor.

A clean stacked washer and dryer unit

Job done

Washer and dryer

Lint trap, the drum, the rubber seal, and the top of the machine where the dust sits.

Kitchen deep clean, heavy degrease

The hardest of the four. A kitchen that had been cooked in properly for years, where the oven and the cooktop were the whole job.

Before and after · 5

An oven cavity and door caked with burnt-on carbon and grease, and the same oven clean BeforeAfter

Deep clean

Oven, burnt-on

Carbon this thick does not wipe. It gets a dwell, then it comes off in sheets. The door glass was split and cleaned between the panes.

The inside of an oven with grease baked onto the racks and floor, and the same cavity clean BeforeAfter

Deep clean

Inside that oven

Racks out and soaked separately. The floor of the cavity and the back wall are two different problems and get two different passes.

A gas cooktop with heavy baked-on grease across the grates, and the same cooktop clean BeforeAfter

Deep clean

Gas cooktop and grates

Grates and burner caps came off and were soaked while the rest was done. Nothing abrasive near the burner ports.

Refrigerator shelves and a drawer with dried red staining, and the same interior clean BeforeAfter

Deep clean

Refrigerator, stained

Dried spill on the shelf and down the drawer front. Shelves out, washed, dried and put back — not wiped where they sat.

Stained refrigerator crisper drawers, and the same drawers and interior clean BeforeAfter

Deep clean

The drawers in that refrigerator

The run of staining under the crisper is the one nobody sees until the drawer is out. It is also the one that smells.

Finished rooms · 7

A finished range with clean cooktop, front panel and open oven

Job done

Range, finished

Front panel, knobs off and washed, the gap between the range and the cabinet.

A finished tile kitchen with a clean refrigerator and range

Job done

The kitchen after

Same room as the oven above, once the degrease was finished.

A clean stone counter with a small stainless bar sink and tap

Job done

Counter and bar sink

Stone dried by hand, tap polished, and the seal around the sink cut in.

A deep stainless sink and drain, cleaned and dried

Job done

Sink and drain

Stainless taken back with the grain, then the drain and the ring around it.

An empty freezer compartment, clean and dry

Job done

Freezer compartment

Defrosted, emptied, washed and dried before the door went shut.

A second view of the clean, empty freezer compartment

Job done

Freezer, second view

Including the shelf runners, where old ice and packaging collect.

A clean stacked washer and dryer

Job done

Washer and dryer

Drum, seal, lint trap and the detergent drawer, which is usually the worst of the four.

Garden-level apartment, cherry hardwood

Construction dust across every board, and a laundry corner that had not been pulled out in years.

Before and after · 5

A cherry hardwood floor dulled with dust, and the same floor clean and reflecting the window BeforeAfter

Deep clean

Hardwood, edge to edge

Dry residue lifted first. Wet-mopping dust into hardwood is how you get a haze that never comes out.

A dusty hardwood floor in an empty room, and the same floor clean beside a patio door BeforeAfter

Deep clean

The same floor, other room

Second room, same treatment. With the grain, and the edges by hand where a mop head cannot sit flat.

A dusty hardwood corner against white skirting, and the same corner clean BeforeAfter

Deep clean

Into the corners

Where the boards meet the skirting is where dust settles and where it shows. Done by hand, not by machine.

A grimy laundry floor beside a washer, and the same corner clean with the machines back in place BeforeAfter

Deep clean

Laundry floor

The machines come out. This is the floor that was under them, and it is the reason we move them.

Dirt and lint uncovered when a dryer is pulled out, and the same spot clean with the machine back BeforeAfter

Deep clean

Under the dryer

Nobody checks here, which is exactly why it looks like that. Lint under a dryer is also the part that catches fire.

Finished rooms · 5

A clean hardwood floor beside a patio door with daylight coming in

Job done

By the patio door

Threshold, the track, and the floor right at the door, which takes the most traffic in the place.

A clean refrigerator and freezer interior with the doors open

Job done

Refrigerator and freezer

Both compartments, shelves out, seals wiped and left dry.

Clean refrigerator door shelves

Job done

Door shelves

The door is where the sticky rings live. Every shelf came out.

A clean tiled tub surround with shower head and taps

Job done

Tub and surround

Tile, grout, the shower head and the tub itself, then dried so nothing spots.

A clean toilet beside a vanity with tiled walls

Job done

Toilet and vanity

Behind the pan and along the skirting, done on hands and knees because that is the only way it gets done.

Your room is next.

Every room we clean is photographed the same way, whether you were home or not. You get the set the same day.
